Trying out the monochrome on my smartphone

Tldr: Trying out the monochrome/greyscale on my smartphone. I will update the post a few months later so you know how it worked for me.

There are a ton of apps that do something similar. Personally, I don’t find a reason to add another app so here is how I did it. You can find research telling you it will help you use your smartphone less. I will try to reduce my phone usage to an hour of screen time a day. This isn’t an experiment to see if monochrome will be the only factor that will help me reduce my “phone addiction”. For reference, I now have almost 2 hours a day. (checking games, mails, Slacks and etc)

  1. Enable “developer mode” on your phone.
  • Go to “Settings”
  • Tap “About device” or “About phone”
  • Tap “Software information”
  • Tap “Build number” seven times. …
  • Enter your pattern, PIN, or password to enable the Developer options menu.
  • The “Developer options” menu will now appear in your Settings menu.

2. Open the Settings app and go to System

3. Go to Developer options

4. Scroll way down to Simulate color space

5. Choose Monochromacy
